Five Ways to Restore Dosha Balance

dosha balance

There are many reasons why it’s essential to restore your dosha balance. A good starting point is to know your predominant dosha, or Prakruti. When this dosha is imbalanced, it is the easiest to correct. However, restoring your dosha balance after it becomes imbalanced in any other dosha is more challenging. The main reason for this is that you’re most likely to experience symptoms of an imbalance if you are lacking one of the doshas in your body.

Vata

The best way to achieve Vata dosha balance is to avoid multitasking. Vata is the erratic dosha, so quickly changing tasks only serves to increase it. To pacify Vata, try focusing on one task and performing it consistently. In addition to meditation, you can perform calming exercises to calm your mind. Listed below are five of the best ways to achieve Vata dosha balance.

Poor digestion results in excess gas and bloating. Vata Balance improves digestion and enhances natural production of digestive enzymes. Poor appetite may also be caused by antibiotics, an infection, or other medical treatments. Luckily, Vata balance can help with both. It can also support the body’s natural appetite, which is a key factor in maintaining good health. But before you can get your Vata balance, there are several conditions you need to address first.

Pitta

If you want to keep your Pitta and dosha balance, you should avoid eating heavy red meats. You should also avoid fatty cuts of meat, spicy curries, and fermented foods. Coconut milk-based cooling river fish curries are excellent for Pittas. Slices of chicken in light rice congee are also a good option. During the hot months, steamed plantain bananas are a staple. Buttermilk is also good for Pittas, but you should avoid it on cold days.

If you have a high Pitta level, cooling activities are the best options. Sandalwood paste is a great remedy for concentration. Tandulodaka rice water (or any other kind of rice) is another good option. Leave it overnight, strain it the next day, and drink it in the morning. Alternatively, you can try infusing Tulsi leaves in this water. For colds, tulsi leaves and red rice mixed together are both great options.

Kapha

If you have a Kapha body type, you are probably aware of the various qualities that make it so apt for relationship building. Among these are warm skin, smooth joints, and a steady energy level. Other traits of a Kapha person are a constant appetite, a calm temperament, and a regular, if slow, digestion. However, if your Kapha is out of balance, it could also manifest as excessive sleep, allergies, and weight gain.

To balance your Kapha, you must start by avoiding foods that make you feel heavy and cold. Kaphas should eat less in the mornings and make lunch the largest meal of the day. It is also important to avoid snacks and allow your body to fully digest before going to bed. And don’t forget about exercise – Kapha is highly sensitive to cold and damp places, so staying warm is essential. You can benefit from heat pads and layering warm clothes, so try to stay active every day.

Vata imbalances

Those with Vata imbalances are prone to a number of symptoms. They are easily aggravated by stressful environments, increased activity, and lack of focus. They may also experience irregular digestion, indigestion, and fatigue. An intentional change in lifestyle can help ground Vata. Here are a few easy ways to do it. Avoid foods that aggravate Vata, such as cold and astringent foods. Eat more hot, fatty, and moist foods. You should avoid alcoholic drinks and caffeine. Instead, choose foods that will hydrate and balance your body and mind. And try to stay as warm as possible. Wear warm clothing, long boots, and a warm overcoat during cold months. In winter, ayurvedic herbs and ghee are also beneficial to Vata.

Healthy dosha balances

To achieve healthy Dosha balances, we need to understand the nature of our constitution. Ayurveda classifies the tastes of foods into their various components, each of which affects a particular Dosha in our body. The following are some of the key ways to balance your constitution. Ayurveda recommends that you balance your diet and lifestyle by choosing foods that have the opposite quality to your predominant Dosha.

Out-of-balance Doshas can interfere with the functioning of the others, causing a variety of symptoms. For instance, an out-of-balance Kapha may present as disturbed digestion, muscle spasms, and insomnia. In contrast, an out-of-balance Vata may be responsible for as many as four times the number of diseases as an imbalanced Pitta. While many factors may contribute to the imbalance, many common triggers are caffeine, alcohol, and late nights. When you have symptoms of more than one Dosha, it is best to seek consultation with a health practitioner to determine which Dosha is the primary one and how to correct it.
